My pretty new monthly calendar was 50% off (for waiting 2 weeks) @ Barnes & Noble.
Love to snag a nice deal on these Tocca roller-ball fragrance. They were 50% @ Anthropologie and one regular price at my other fav, Sephora. I’ve enjoyed the ‘Cleopatra’ (foral) scent for awhile now and needed a new one. I also decided to try, and like both the ‘Stella’ (citrusy) and ‘Florence’ (woodsy). I lke them all!
Finally, White Plains gets a Dollar Tree store today!!
I had high expectations since every DT I’ve ever been too (out of NY) is a large well stocked and varied discount store. So, I was excited & anxious to see what ‘freebies’ might be offered to the first guests.
Well, the grand opening was delayed 2 hours as they waited for the “money man”…really people!? Ugh. Meantime, a dozen or so customers waited outside. Finally, the guy arrives, loads the cash registers. The employees gather outside for the obligatory group shot. Doors open!!
Inside is clean, stocked well but wait, it’s not a very large store!! 😦 Why didn’t they use the entire existing space that the previous retail store had!? YGBK (you gotta be kidding). It looks like they’re using it for inventory – how bizarre! Oh, no freebies or coupons for the guests! *Sigh* Wow, no ‘whoop di-do’ here!
So, it’s not a large store. They have the usual dedicated aisles for cards, helium balloons & gift wrap, toys, stationary items, spices/food items, a large frozen food area, bath and cleansers, etc. Some sections are smaller than others. I was expecting a larger area for decorations/holiday stuff. I hope the seasonal section of supplies expands. It makes changing it up for the holidays easy on the pocket. I found this cute RW&B scarf for the upcoming USA holidays. #score I also picked up some cleaning supplies. Compared to other local ‘discount’ stores this is the best place for cleaning supplies – some other places charge over $3 for the same cleanser. So, that’s all, for now.
Enjoyed a few of the neat happenings around my city today.
A mini Antique car show on the plaza drew a crowd around noontime. White Plains mayor, Tom Roach posed for a few pics in front of this cool Bentley.

I also spent some time at the Farmer’s Market. I picked up a large head of Kale, a large head of Romaine lettuce, spent more than I should on tomatoes, picked up a happy looking pretty pink Geranium plant (I love them!). Although I did not buy lunch, I watched as others lined up to get the VERY yum looking pulled pork sandwiches from the very delicious “Goucho Grill” restaurant. Into a large chunk of seeded Italian bread they loaded a mound of seasoned pulled pork, added their special Chimichurri sauce, lettuce and huge onions rings on top…mmm. Many were waiting to order too!
With Starbucks at the end of the street I made my way for a refreshing break with an iced shaken green tea.
I also scored at CVS with their BOGO (buy one get one) deal on supplements/vitamins. I bought a supply of Vitamin D & Fish oil. Combing my manufactures coupons and store Q I think I made out very well. Yup, another fun WedNesDaY!
Bumped into this great deal at Walmart today so I loaded up on the cotton (Peaches & Cream) as Market tote bag time is nearing. The baby soft Bernat will work well for baby items.
