There are many wonderful things to do during the Fall months in NY and up here in Westchester county.
The Foundry cafe serves up hot coffee. beverages, huge muffins (I highly recommend the Pumpkin walnut!). We sat out on their cafe tables, sipped hot coffee, some herbal tea as we shared that muffin – it was yum!
The town was hopping not just with locals but tourists visiting NYC, College students, etc.
A ride on the trolley took us down to the riverfront where we spent time knitting. It was a great day with friends!
The weather is just gorgeous…cool, in the 50’s – perfect for brisk walking. After a good walk I settled in for a day of hobbies. I’m working on fingerless gloves, in homespun yarn – so soft and fuzzy.
Making some for charity, Midnight Run who help the homeless. Others I will sell. Another WIP (work in progress) is this Cowl in Pink, Homespun)
I got a late start getting my crock pot loaded – this is an easy peasy no-fail soup!
Potato, Broccoli & Cheddar Soup
30 oz. (approx 1 1/2 lbs) of shredded potatoes
1/2 medium onion, diced
1 frozen box of broccoli
12 oz shredded cheddar cheese
6 cups of water or any broth (I used water and it was yum!!)
1 t. salt
1/2 t black pepper
Literally dump all the ingredients into the Crock Pot
Add 6 cups of water/broth
Cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours
I took a few days off to rest my phalanges after whipping up ruffle scarfs, baby dresses & hats. Now it’s time to get started on my fingerless gloves – after all it is FALL!!
So, I spent a few hours today sitting outdoors appreciating this gorgeous weather and the last weeks of the water fountains in the downtown square. It helps that there is a Starbucks in the same block. I opted for a hot coffee, with a dash of pumpkin spice, – mmm. Then it was off to work on these neat cotton fingerless gloves. I love wearing fingerless, both in cotton and soft fuzzy yarn. I wore my cotton fingerless gloves all Season last year – they hold up very well. The easy access to ones wallet, keys & yes, texting makes these a real hit. They will be for sale, in a few weeks, when I launch my Etsy shop.
