Another way of casting on knitting (in the round) using two different color skeins of yarn. called two color cast-on. No waste of yarn or trying to estimate how much yarn to use for the cast-on. I like using two colors to make baby hats.
I’m also on a roll making my multi-colored Granny Square Crochet baby blankets….using Premier Everyday Soft Worsted Yarn. Luxurious, soft yarn… love working with it! A new fav of mine.
#WIP – Work in progress…
itty bitty preemie baby hats (and newborn for Charity). Using my 8.5″ #8 circular needles. Depending on the size of the hat I want I cast on 35 or 42 for preemie size.
Knit around creates a rolled edge hat. At 3″ 1k. k2tog *. Cut a 10″ length of yarn, weave through the top to cinch the hat, weave in the ends.
Enjoying a recent deal on Caron Simply Soft yarn, from Michael’s….love the colors!
Always a great time up at the Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival. This is 5th year going …I always have blast. We carpool up there with some of my Stitch & Bitch chicks.
We go early, walk a lot, chow down a yum falafel & shop, shop, shop!
Working with Red Heart Yarn, “Americana” self striping Red White & Blue making newborn baby hats for one of my charity projects. Lois, a member of my Stitch & Bitch collects baby hats for the newborn babies of White Plains Hospital. We often make hats with holiday theme colors. She came up with the brilliant idea to make these inclusivity hats as a “welcome to America” for the newborn babies. Red Heart Yarn can be found at any yarn store & places like Walmart for $2.88 a skein (in NY). One skein makes 3 hats.
I will glady accept yarn donations from anyone in the Westchester County in the NY area.
Spent the day surrounded by fiber lovers – touching luxurious yarn (at the Dutchess county fairgrounds). The Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival draws thousands of fiber lovers, from all over. There are vendors galore, aisle after aisle of amazing yarn. I’m grateful for gorgeous sunny weather with temps in the 60’s = perfect day!
I bought more than I should but, I’m frugal with my yarn purchase, most of year anyway. 😉 A few skeins, but couldn’t find the Blue Moon “Fire on the Mountain” hank which I need to finish a shawl. Well, I bought another colorway to make another. I also bought some accessories (knitting needles, crochet hook, etc.), earrings, some alpaca socks (for gifts), my annual large basket purchase & of course, a falafel.
Another amazing day surrounded by yarn!!
With a lot of craziness going on in our country, and the world, I gladly turn to my hooks and needles to create inner peace.
Summertime = more colorful ☺ cotton on my hooks & needles. I’m still whipping up cute girlie headbands. I’ve added another charity cause for girls with Craniosynostosis. One of my friends sends care packages, a few times a year that will be added to care boxes they send to families. So, I have decided to do some of these for them as well.
